Reading the field
By the time stress shows in the canopy colour a person can see, the plant has usually been struggling for a week or more. Near-infrared reflectance catches it earlier — that's what NDVI plots.
A multispectral pass over the plot captures red, near-infrared and RGB bands in one flight, block by block.
Bands are processed into an NDVI map, flagging exactly which rows or blocks are stressed, and by how much.
The map becomes either a survey report for your records, or a variable-rate spray plan flown the same week.
